Special Chain Mill with Deck Analysis

Characters

Yoda - Wizened Master: Yoda - Wizened Master’s consistency and ability to focus other dice make him incredibly potent in this pairing. As all upgrades as well as Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo’s dice revolve around specials, he ensures that even if the special sides aren’t rolled, they can be focused to specials. His special side can also be used to discard cards from the opponent’s deck. He also has a discard side which proves to be useful all game.

Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo: Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo is the strongest mill character in the game as she has the most mill die sides. With two deck discard sides and one hand discard side, she is incredibly consistent.

Upgrades

Force Speed: Speed is critical to mill decks, as a major component of hero mill is the ability to avoid damage and claim before your opponent.

Tough Haggler: This upgrade allows you to look at an opponent’s hand, choose two cards, and discard those cards unless the opponent spends two resources. With two special sides, this upgrade is incredibly potent in this deck, as it allows you to remove upgrades and supports from your opponent’s hand to make the claim ability more devastating and foil devastating damage combinations, such as We Have Them Now, Lightsaber Throw, Never Tell Me The Odds, etc.

Maz's Goggles: This card's mill special fits well within the context of this deck, but also can allow you to focus into Yoda - Wizened Master or Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo's specials without having to discard to re-roll or use Yoda - Wizened Master's special focus ability.

Second Chance: This upgrade provides Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo additional health and can function incredibly well in concert with Impersonate.

Force Meditation: This card further increases the deck discard potential of this deck and can serve as a placeholder for Tough Haggler.

Battlefield

Frozen Wastes - Starkiller Base: This deck is lightning fast at milling your opponent's deck, with the only difficultly being survival. With no healing other than Second Chance, it is critical that you are able to remove as many dice as possible during your turn. To this end, Frozen Wastes - Starkiller Base allows you to remove a character die, which helps you to smother your opponent's damage potential.

Events

Most of the events require you to spot a yellow character, thus it is critical that you draw attention away from Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo by playing upgrades like Tough Haggler or Force Meditation on Yoda - Wizened Master.

Easy Pickings: Removing two dice in a single action is excellent as it prevents larger bursts of damage. Also, as most decks for synergy purposes focus one damage type, it ensures that more often than not you should be able to use this card.

Electroshock: Removing any die costing two or less is a restriction on what you can mitigate, but with specials being firmly in the meta this card has a place in any choke or mill deck.

Entangle: Once again, removing multiple dice in one action is ideal as it prevents either character from taking damage.

Hasty Exit: Zero cost mitigation helps to ensure that even if you are limited in the number of resources you have, you can still mitigate an opponent's dice.

Hyperspace Jump: Simply ending the action phase helps to counter decks like OTK or Hero Vehicles that require additional time to deal maximum damage.

Impersonate: Shifting damage away from Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo to Yoda - Wizened Master late game (or the other way if that is your play style), helps to ensure the survivability of this deck.

Overconfidence: Once again, being able to alter more than one of an opponent's dice in a single action helps to ensure that you can break up focused damage or larger bursts of damage by an opponent.

Quick Escape: The claim ability does nothing to hurt you or your ability to mill, thus giving up control of the battlefield to remove two dice is well worth the loss of battlefield control.

Rend: Eliminating cards like Running Interference, Sith Holocron, Luke's Protection, and Force Speed can seriously impact your opponent's play strategy, which only helps you mill faster.

Scavenge: This card is included to return Second Chance to your hand, should you need it.

Trickery: With a wide variety of costed cards and the consistency of Yoda - Wizened Master's dice, it is unlikely you need cards in your hand to mill your opponent, thus Trickery allows you to remove up to four of your opponent's dice in one action, effectively destroying their turn.

Strategy

Yoda - Wizened Master should be the primary target, especially once you play an upgrade on him. Consequently, the goal is to use mitigation to keep Yoda active for as long as possible, while using the speed of the deck to empty your opponents hand and deck as soon as possible. If you are able to impersonate damage to Padme while Yoda has Tough Haggler upgrade attached, you are almost guaranteed a victory. A pro play is to equip Second Chance to Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo, then impersonate from Yoda - Wizened Master to Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo, thus returning Yoda - Wizened Master to full health and healing five damage from Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo.

Late game the key becomes hand discard, which can prove to be difficult, but with the specials on Tough Haggler and Maz's Goggles, it is not incredibly difficult. Though not a tier one mill deck, this deck can hold its own, and shows the power of special chaining in mill, all while utilizing some under appreciated cards like Trickery and Tough Haggler.

Great I have a friend that uses that pairing to and his deck is violent in his milling speed. But after so many plays against him I think that I can tell you somethings that he had to change. First he uses Lone Operative insted of Tough Haggler because survival is very difficult in the end games against aggro decks. He uses Con Artist but since he doesn't have a Force Speed maybe that is better to claim. On the last end he has more bleu removals than you because many of yours (Electroshock,Easy Pickings,Entangle) are spot yellow then if they target padme it is as many dead card in your hand

@Icezox definitely good points. As yellow removal tends to be more potent than blue removal, my hope was that Yoda - Wizened Master would be targeted first, especially once I play Tough Haggler on him early game. If he is not targeted first, my goal is to use both Second Chances and as much mitigation as possible to keep her active, then impersonate damage to Yoda - Wizened Master mid game. That said, the mechanic of this deck definitely suffers is Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo is defeated early game, as six of the more potent mitigation cards require you to spot a yellow character.

i'm playing this another mill deck swdestinydb.com
Rookie pilot gives C-3PO, Scout and Spy Net, #impersonate , Force Protection,#caution and Lone Operative. mades me hard to kill. im milling 5-7 cards/round.

@Destiny Deck Analysis The reason why I told you that is because now that we are used to play against it every single of us target Padme Amidala - Queen of Naboo before anything else. She is the one that permits the more mitigation and can be given the Second Chance. So for your next games be carefull for when your opponents will know the trick. Moreover I would put some force illusion for survival

Destiny Deck Analysis 271

@Carraminana that is definitely a strong deck. The one card I feel I am missing from this deck is C-3PO, but I am unwilling to sacrifice the speed and special synergy to add a red character like the Rookie Pilot. I will definitely give your deck a try though, mill is my favorite play strategy. One question, why Outer Rim Outpost - Nal Hutta? Why not a removal or a mill battlefield like Command Center - Lothal?

Destiny Deck Analysis 271

@Icezox that is a very good point. I will do some additional play testing and see if I can shift away from spot a yellow mitigation, but the problem is I like it so much. What would your suggestions be for blue mitigation to switch out for Electroshock, Entangle, and Easy Pickings?

Icezox 7

@Icezox I would definitely keep easy picking since it is a cars so powerfull. For the rest it depends. For example entangle could be changed by mind trick but since it is spot blue you still will have the problem. On the other hand I would definitely add hidden motive for it is a spot less mitigation at 0 instead of electroshock

@Icezox that sounds like a good compromise. It decreases the number of "spot" removal cards and the cost of the removal cards in the deck. Good thought and I look forward to trying the updated version.

Icezox 7

@Destiny Deck Analysis I hope that you will give us a feedback on your feelings for that version.

Destiny Deck Analysis 271

@Icezox most definitely. I will post my thoughts once I am able to get in adequate testing.

Play 2 Rebel instead of Scavenge. With that card, you can play anything from your discard (Force Illusion, Easy Pickings, Second Chance, etc... Replace Tough Haggler with Lone Operative. Replace Rend with Vandalize because it is more versatile. You need 2 Force Illusion. I like Mislead and Hidden Motive as they are blue cards removal without spotting. Against Kylo Ren - Tormented One it helps to have more blue cards in your deck. Personnaly, I don't like Trickery, Hasty Exit and Quick Escape. These 6 cards are not effective against specials. Mislead, Hidden Motive, Easy Pickings, Entangle are enough removals because you also can generate shields with Yoda - Wizened Master and with Force Illusion and Second Chance, your opponents will have a tough time killing your characters.

Icezox 7

Well Trickery can work on specials if you discard a cost 0 card. But I see what you mean, I don't like it either. I would keep Electroshock or replace it by a mass mitigation like Sound The Alarm or Scramble (more sound the Alarm wich is spotless
