So my wife and I attended worlds for the first time this year. We're from Alaska so this was our first ever big tournament as well. What a learning experience it was. I went 3 wins and 3 losses, my wife went 2 wins and 4 losses.

Due to the stress I barely slept the night before the tournament. I made some play mistakes that could have won me some games but overall I'm happy with how I did. The games I did win, I won decisively.

Things I learned from worlds:

1: Prepping helps but only so much, there were a ton of different decks and I didn't expect such a huge variance.

2: Stick with the plan, I out witted myself in two of my games. If I would have just stuck with what I knew was a good strategy for my deck it may have turned out different.

3: Have a powerful trick card in your deck. This was lacking in our deck choice.

About our deck: I built this deck around my wife's play style. She feels that she's an unlucky roller of dice so I tried to build a deck that does extra damage through character abilities and cards that fix dice or do damage themselves.

I also expected a meta with a lot of shields so I felt Hidden Blaster and Intimidate would be good.

Deadly also helps with both not worrying about your roll as well as goes around shields. I only included 1 because it doesn't add any dice to your pool.

With nearly all of our upgrades costing 2 it makes it easy to either replace an upgrade and use your resources on cards that cost 1 or play a 2 cost and use cards that cost 0.

The replacing an upgrade strategy: With Crossguard Lightsaber and Hidden Blaster in the deck you have a decent chance at overwriting an upgrade and getting an extra damage in. Another trick is to overwrite an upgrade with Deadly after you've rolled in and resolved that upgrades dice, allowing you to use a poorly rolled character dice for 2 more damage that turn.

I included 1 Coercion to deal with Hyperspace Jump. It also gets another card in the deck that looks at hand to make a more educated guess with Kylo Ren - Tormented One.

There are a lot of Ambush cards in the deck which keeps your turn moving at a fair pace and can get you the claim if you need it.
