Been playing this since the new set dropped and although its always done well, i didn't expect it to hold up well at a regionals event, let alone go on to win it. Turns out Vader blows up just the same as everyone else!

Its debut was a 28 person Regionals with a wide mix of decks, i will do a full write up soon, but match ups were as follows:

Round 1: Bye

Round 2: Yoda/Cassian/Anakin - W

Round 3: Snoke/Iden - W

Round 4: Beckett Cienna Armoured Support- L

Round 5: Vader Greedo - W

Round 6: Jyn Cassian - W

First round of top 8: Talzin DJ Double Down W-W

Second round of top 8: Snoke Iden W-L-W

Final: Vader Greedo W-L-W

In summary, the consistency of this decks ability to use planned explosion is scary, especially when it happens turn one. There were also several games within the day that proved that this deck can hold its own even when planned explosion isn't an option.

Feel free to ask questions, there are some cards that i am thinking of tweaking/adding in, but overall i am quite happy with it!

Looks like a fun deck, what changes would you make at this point?

cjfm 35

In the semi and finals games you won, did you also win the battlefield?

@jigmenunchuck - Have talked about this a bit with the Snoke Iden player, and both agreed adding in an impulsive could be really powerful. Just makes the planned explosion a bit more versatile and unexpected.

@cjfm - I think in the semi finals the first game I won with my opponents battlefield, then lost with his and won with mine. As for the final against Vader, I think the games I won were where I had my battlefield although that didn't feel like a deciding factor. Early game, this deck is quick enough to take the battlefield even from Vader, meaning I used Theeds power action quite a lot. Game two looked in my favour, getting him down to a 5 health Greedo, but a well time force illusion meant I couldn't close the game with PO. It then came down to the fact i couldn't get other damage through quick enough before taking lethal damage from Vader's fist.

Shhh, Don't tell people until after Sat! Don't want to have to play this again lol!

I can't have double probe in hand every game!

ciamoslaw 1

what do you want to see in your starting hand ?

EsKanor 1

Hey congrats for the regional, I really like this deck! since the release of Lando, I try to do something with yoda but nothing as conclusive as you for now ... what do you think of these cards Drop In in & Cash Out?

Nogutsnoglory11 383

@ciamoslaw - Good question. Depending what I see in the first 5, I either Mulligan for a turn one Planned explosion (Ideally want to see a FILP, Shadowcaster or chance cube and obviously PO), or if the chance of that is low, I will mulligan for a hand that will let me get a vehicle out and start fitting it with mods.

@EsKanor - Thankyou! I was the same as soon as he was released :) With Drop In, I can't always rely on having the battlefield, and force speed gives me the ability to do things quickly. As for Cash Out, because there's no really high cost events, there's not a huge benefit to being able to claim resources quickly and take another action. Also, most of the time the big resource sides are what I'm using to trigger planned explosion and blow things up :)

@Ackoogin - Haha, didn't know who it was until I read the double probe!! Cheers for a decent game, shame about the curse of Swiss, I would have liked for us to duke it out in the final!

Did the chances cubes or T-47 play a big part in those matchups? I was looking for room for hyperspace jump.

Nogutsnoglory11 383

@Sylverion - T-47, surprisingly not so much, got me a bit of damage when I needed to finish a character, but was in there to exhaust fat vehicles and draw planned explosion/second chance in a pinch. The chance cubes were incredible, they make hitting Planned Explosion much easier and create buckets of money for vehicles and mods. Hyperspace Jumps an interesting one, the turns you use Planned Explosion it would be a great move, but if you have to resort to using Vehicles for damage, which happens now and then, hyperspace becomes a dead card in most match ups. Be interested to hear how it plays with 1 or 2 copies in :)

Fortnby 1

Taking Ground to help get your battlefield and keep opponent off theirs might be better. Could replace one Planned Explosion with a Rebel to make up for going back to 2 card limit.

Nogutsnoglory11 383

@Fortnby - Nice idea, although i don't feel like having the battlefield is a must have. Plenty of the games i won were on my opponents battlefield, and the speed of the deck meant i can benefit from the likes of theed too. Three Planned explosions is a real must have for this deck IMO. I did consider Rebel and I think if Lando had discard sides it would be an auto include, but without them, i can only imagine it creating frustrating scenarios as you always want Yoda's dice to be showing a special or his 2 focus!
