I need to shout out my Brother IntellectX, my primary play partner. I wouldn't be where I am if I didn't have the best player in Canada punishing every mistake I made as we grind games on the regular. He put me back on Han Solo - Old Swindler when I might have just taken Chopper - Metal Menace and put me on Mean Streets - Correlia when I would have been on Comm Tower - Scarif. He's also the one to come up with the DX-2 Disruptor Blaster Pistol tech and all credit for that goes to him, that card might get the MVP award for the whole tourney although Flee the Scene would definitely be up for consideration as well.

Special shout out to Jedidomer who took on the roll of R&D department for the team and made sure I was always up to date on all the latest tech and for his help in play testing.

Special shout out to JestorX for the play testing as his presence in the tourney prep brain trust.

The deck seems pretty straight forward, the upgrades upgrade, the mitigaters mitigate and the action cheats are rediculous when paired with the droids. The deck isn't quite perfect yet and still requires a few tweaks, Han Solo's Blaster can do stupid things on Han, but rarely gets the chance because of how the deck actually plays out vs the meta and so that needs to be addressed.

Round 1 - Bye

Round 2 - Leia, Naboo Guard, Anakin - A kind gent, I god-rolled off action cheats a few times and we didn't really get a chance to play the game.

Round 3 - Jabba 3 Wide - Former Canadian Champ. I'm pretty sure this guy is actually the best player in Canada and one of the toughest games all weekend, but I squeeked out a win here.

Round 4 - Aphra 3 Wide - Nicholas B. A very tough opponent, I'm constantly seeing him at the final table of bigger events and would face once again in the finals of this tourney. It's never an easy time with this guy and always a very close fight, this game was about as close as it gets.

Round 5 - Jabba 3 Wide - Raymond B. Only other undefeated at this point, very tight game. Dope Chewie Hoodie, I was chatting with this guy all day. He came all the way from Calgary and says they have a decent scene out there, it makes me wish I could see more of what the west coast has to offer.

Round 6 - Yoda, Aayla - Quater Finalist. To make it as far as he did with Yoda/Aayla in this meta is quite an accomplishment, but this was a textbook example of what my deck looks like when it goes off, and Yoda just isn't equipped to deal with that.

Top 8 - Yoda, Aayla - 2-0 One game was kind of a repeat of round 6, another round he put up a real fight. Had I not bought the 2 Vibro Blasters this match could have turned into a real problem, but turns out that bypassing 6 shields with some unbloackable to KO a Yoda is a really good play.

Top 4 - Yoda, Anakin, C-3PO 2-1 - Streamed on Twitch.tv/vttvlive2/ It was tougher than I expected, which is what I expected, because mill wasn't supposed to be able to compete in this meta, but here he was competeing in this meta. I know why I went after C-3PO when support R2 was played but it probably wasn't the right choice otherwise.

Final - Aphra 3 Wide 2-1 - Streamed on Twitch.tv/vttvlive2/ Much like round 4, every game was tough and close. We may be able to credit my victory solely to the fact that I won the roll off for the battlefield in game 1.

Closing Thoughts
After reviewing the tapes I of course saw some poor judgement calls, misplays and maybe even a couple blunders. Most of them can probably be attributed to playing too fast and getting tunnel vision on a course of action or pre-determined pattern of play. This level of play won't win worlds so I'll have to step it up. I'm fortunate it didn't cost me any matches and happy I could keep the title of Canadian Grand Champion in my family where it belongs.

Great deck! Do you ever feel that no matter how many times you wash your hands that they never get clean?

Big_Campy 384

Congrats on the win sir. Great tech and nice play. TBH though when I heard Mill made top 4 I thought it might be you.

Moonseer 73

@Intellectx Thanks! Dirty dice make for dirty hands!

Moonseer 73

@Big_Campy Thanks! I had tried some different Mill decks, but nothing felt like it had what it takes to reliably get me all the way to the finals.

@Moonseer Congrats on the win, great job. Looking forward to the arrival of the trophy so you can start defending it :) We are very happy to have gotten you away from playing Chopper and Mill, it obviously worked!

Orffme 71

Congrats! Nice to hear about flee the scene doing a lot of work.

Moonseer 73

@jedidomer Thanks! I'll bring it and let you hold the trophy after every game you beat me!

Moonseer 73

@Orffme Thanks! I was happy with how it performed, it can really backfire sometimes but this felt like the perfect deck for it, and it was part of the reason I built the deck to run so fast.

How did you recover from one of your guys going down if you don’t have any redeploy weapons?

CodeBreaker (Mat Cousineau@Chance Cube) 1336

Congrats buddy! Well deserved!

Moonseer 73

@Bminny I was spreading the upgrades around so that I wasn't putting all my eggs in one basket. I was also blowing up an opponents character pretty early, usually at the start of turn 2 before they get rolled in, so even if I lost a character I would be far enough ahead at that point to still finish. The deck also functions very well with few upgrades.

@CodeBreaker (Mat Cousineau@Chance Cube) Thanks! Couldn't have done it without friends and teammates helping me to be my best!

Thanks for this write up. Are any of these games in stream/video and available to watch?

Moonseer 73

@jeff3316The games were streamed by VTTV and should be up on their Youtube channel before too long.
