Winter Park Prime Split Top 2

Swiss 2-2

Made the 8th seed of the top cut.

Split the top 2 with my teammate who already had a worlds invite.

Swiss Round 1 0-0:

Loss to ePalp eWatto. I felt I was favored in this match up because I was running Scorched Earth. I was unable to stop his ramping with Watto’s dice. Also I did not ramp well on my side of the board either. I did use Scorched Earth to do 9 damage, but it wasn’t enough to win so that should tell you how poorly I was doing. Excellent opponent who I eventually met again in the Top 4.

Swiss Round 2 0-1:

Win against eYoda eLeia Mill. This was against my teammate who was also 0-1 so it felt super bad because we knew one of us was going 0-2. We had tested this specific match up several times and we both knew it was going to be a close game. We even joked about just flipping a coin to pick the winner. I was able to spike Yoda in round 2. He just didn’t have enough mitigation in the end of the round to deal with a hot roll. Only had 2 cards at the end of the game. Yoda Leia is something to watch out for.

Swiss Round 3 1-1:

Loss to Reylo. This deck is super tough. My opponent was new(er) to playing the deck(but an excellent player I’ve played before) and actually made a couple play errors. But the constant damage from Kylo’s PA, Polarity, and Conflicted burned down my Iden too quickly. Even after a few misplays my opponent closed the game out with what felt like endless shields on Rey.

Swiss Round 4 1-2:

Win to ePhasma Sentinel Messenger Retribution. This match played out super fast. I was able to put pressure on him with Beckett specials forcing him to play cards so that I couldn’t steal his money. I ramped out a Mega Blaster Troopers round 1 and that was a huge card in the match up. The amount of resource disruption in my deck basically guaranteed he wasn’t going to get his Mega Blaster Troopers our against me. Good game against a good opponent and long time Destiny friend.

Barely made the top cut.... barely. With a 2-2 record I am now the going up against the 4-0 deck Plowoks...

This was by far the toughest match up for me. Game 1 I got totally wrecked and I was ready to pack up my things and be happy with top 8. But the destiny gods were on my side! Game 2 I focused fired twice in round 1 to take out both both troopers. Game 3 was very close, but I was able to pull it out!

Top 4. Playing against my Swiss round 1 loss. Palp Watto. This match up is actually super thinky when trying to play around DM and Bacta Therapy. Counter Intelligence allows you to turn Bacta off line for that turn. You have to set up to kill Palp that round in my experience. We went to 3 games and had a great back and forth.

Top 2 was split between myself and my other teammate who was playing Palp Motti. There are several changes I would make to the deck, but this is the one that “got there”. Enjoy!
