Riposte seems like it doesn't synergize well. It's great in a Rey/QCJ deck, but without things like force protection, Jedi Robes, and Defensive stance there's not a good source of shields to prime the card. You want to roll melee damage with your characters so I don't know that you get much from having 2 copies, or even one copy.

Riposte does synergise very well with the deck. You're an aggro deck with the ability to change role, but still an aggro deck first and foremost. Being able to choose shields on the intiiative roll and then turn it into -2 HP for the opponent is huge. Also, being able to turn more of your shield faces into damage is a very nice option to have.

That said, I certainly wouldn't bash anyone for not running it. It was undoubtedly better when we still ran Force Protection and I've considered a 1/1 split of those two cards before, it still could happen in the future. It's one of the weaker cards in the deck because it is only useful sometimes, but when it is useful it's very useful. The main thing here is that we're trying to keep our costs down (especially since Mind Trick made the main deck, and things became a bit more expensive) and it's a very good 0-cost utility filler card.

What do you think of Close Quarter Combat? I know it's a little loss of tempo, but it can be brutal after they've had a bad roll? I know it's not ideal to leave melee sides sitting in the pool, but even loosing two re-rolls can swing a game...

I answered a similar question on the 1.1 version of the deck. This started out as a CQA-test deck, in its original form, but I cut it because I didn't like the tempo loss as you mention.

It could certainly go back in to the deck, and its certainly a great card. It could be worth trying in place of Riposte re: the above conversation, also.
